The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. It is a time to get together, get outside and eat delicious food! I myself am not a big fireworks fan, but to many, that is also an integral part of the lineup. Firework displays can be seen from big to small on our countries birthday, but what many don’t realize is the inherent danger that exists with using fireworks!
Fireworks are not only a drain on the bank account to purchase, but they can also be a drain in medical bills when things go wrong! Essentially a controlled explosion, fireworks are put in the hands of people that have no idea how to use them! This leads to mistakes and physical injury. I once heard a story of a mortar type firework falling over and instead of running the other direction, the person in charge attempted to “stomp out” the fuse. Unfortunately, he was not fast enough and blew apart his foot! That brings me to the real point of this blog.

Thats right we can simply take blood from our patients with our in house licensed phlebotomist, spin it in a centrifuge, and condense the platelets into a gelatinous like plug that seals wounds closed! We can quickly diagnose fractures in the office with our high definition instant digital X-ray machines, and then treat them either conservatively or surgically if indicated.
